Meaning Of Self-Righteousness
People engage in of self-righteousness by practicing beliefs and doctrines, which are personal opinions and collective decisions, generally called man-made doctrines.
Disadvantages Of Self-Righteousness
Below are the disadvantages:
- The person or group deviates from doing the will of God. They are no longer led by the Holy Spirit.
- They follow the imaginations of their heart, the figments of imagination, the fabrication of falsehood and the deception of the enemy.
- The result is that all the religious practices and worship become like wasted years, because the ways of man is quite different from the ways of God.
8 "These people draw near to Me with their mouth,
And honor Me with their lips,
But their heart is far from Me.
9 And in vain they worship Me,
Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.'"
Matthew 15:8-9
- Today, there are so many churches, fellowship, ministries, etc. It is quite disappointing that majority of them do not know or teach the truth about God and life.
- People use human reasoning in interpreting spiritual statements. To an ordinary man, the explanations appear good and proper. But in spirit, such explanations are like the guidance of a blind man leading a blind multitudes.
14 Let them alone . They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch. Matthew 15:14
- All over the world, nations encourage democracy and freedom of worship. By freedom of worship, every group or society institutes and practices whatever religion they prefer. The result is that today, what humanity call religions are nothing but the multiplicity of idolatry. Many practice freedom from worship, by which they are free not to attend any religious worship. Such people live as if there is no God. Yet, they are busy everyday enjoying the numerous provisions of God, which provisions are in abundance.
- What many call confidence is nothing but pretended peace. For example, a bishop entered a house to greet the mourners. At the end, when he was leaving, he so comported himself that people see him as a holy man. That is pretended peace. How can he appear holy before people, when in fact he had just defiled himself with corpse, which is the worst form of defilement.
